The science behind Dune Tiles
Dune Tiles uses engineered 100% PET felt construction to absorb sound waves that would otherwise bounce off hard surfaces and create echo. Sound energy hitting the panel is converted into microscopic heat energy within the dense fibre structure — reducing reverberation time and improving speech clarity in any space.
Broad-frequency sound absorption
engineered PET construction delivers broad-frequency absorption across the speech and mid-frequency range — the frequencies that matter most for comfortable, productive interiors.
Air gap dramatically boosts performance
Mounted with a 20mm air gap behind the panel, this product achieves αw 0.50 — roughly 50% more absorption than direct-fix installation. A 50mm gap pushes performance even higher. An air gap is recommended for any installation where acoustic performance is a priority.
Made from 100% PET felt
Constructed entirely from PET polyester felt made from recycled plastic bottles, with no toxic adhesives or VOCs. Lightweight, durable, and fully recyclable at end of life.
Modular tile format for creative installations
Supplied in packs for grid or freeform layouts. Tiles can be mixed across colourways to create custom patterns, rotated for directional installations, or combined with infill pieces for seamless coverage.

Built for spaces where acoustics matter
From corporate offices to hospitality fitouts, Dune Tiles delivers measurable acoustic improvement where hard surfaces create echo, noise fatigue, or speech clarity issues. Here are the environments where we see this panel deliver the biggest impact.
Open-plan offices
The problem
Hard surfaces in modern offices (glass partitions, concrete ceilings, polished floors) bounce sound around, causing speech privacy issues, concentration loss, and workplace fatigue.
The solution
Apply to feature walls, behind monitors, or as wayfinding panels. 25–40% wall coverage typically delivers comfortable acoustics in open-plan settings.
25–40% wall coverage
Boardrooms & meeting spaces
The problem
Echo in meeting rooms makes conversations tiring, harms presentation audio quality, and creates poor video call experiences with hollow, reverberant sound.
The solution
Install as feature wall behind the presentation screen or full-wall treatment opposite the seating. Cleaner, clearer speech improves meeting productivity and video call quality.
30–50% wall coverage
Hospitality & restaurants
The problem
Concrete floors, exposed ceilings and hard walls create a lively atmosphere that tips into unbearable noise during peak service — diners shout, staff tire, reviews suffer.
The solution
Ceiling-mounted or wall-mounted tile clusters can be positioned strategically above high-conversation zones without covering entire surfaces.
25–40% wall coverage
Home theatres & media rooms
The problem
Uncontrolled reflections muddy dialogue, collapse the stereo image, and wash out surround sound cues. A hard-surfaced lounge room is an acoustic liability for any decent audio system.
The solution
Treat first reflection points on side walls and add absorption to the rear wall to dramatically improve dialogue clarity and soundstage precision.
35–50% wall coverage
Classrooms & education
The problem
Reverberation in classrooms directly impacts speech intelligibility — students struggle to hear the teacher, especially those with hearing loss or learning English as a second language.
The solution
Panels on the rear wall and upper portions of side walls reduce reverberation time and measurably improve speech clarity from any seat in the room.
30–45% wall coverage
Healthcare & wellness
The problem
Hospital corridors, waiting rooms and consultation spaces often have hard, easy-clean surfaces that amplify stress and make private conversation difficult.
The solution
Apply to waiting room walls and consultation space ceilings. Acoustic calm reduces patient anxiety and supports HIPAA-compliant speech privacy.
20–40% wall coverage
Specifications
Three installation methods, three performance levels
How you install Dune Tiles dramatically affects its acoustic performance. Direct fix is simplest and cheapest — a 20–50mm air gap behind the panel can nearly double its sound absorption, particularly at lower frequencies.
A 20mm air gap is the standard professional installation for commercial projects. For critical listening spaces like home theatres or recording studios, a 50mm gap delivers maximum performance.
Professional installation
Footprint Creative offer professional installation across Perth metro. For interstate projects, we supply install guides and support your contractor directly.
Direct fix (glued)
The panel is adhered directly to the wall surface with a compatible construction adhesive. The simplest installation method — ideal for budget-conscious projects or where the wall can't be built out.
Effort
Low effort • Fastest install
Performance
Baseline acoustic performance — αw 0.50. Best for high-frequency absorption.
20mm air gap (recommended)
The panel is mounted on battens or a shallow frame, leaving a 20mm cavity behind. This air gap becomes part of the acoustic system, resonating with and absorbing lower frequencies the panel alone can't fully catch.
Effort
Medium effort • Standard professional install
Performance
Significant performance boost. The industry-standard approach for commercial acoustic treatment.
50mm air gap
Mounted on a deeper frame with a 50mm cavity behind. Maximum acoustic performance — the recommended installation method for projects where acoustic quality is a priority (home theatres, studios, critical listening spaces).
Effort
Higher effort • Best for premium installations
Performance
Maximum absorption across all frequencies including low-end. Recommended for studios and critical listening spaces.
Sustainability
Our acoustic panels are manufactured with a commitment to environmental responsibility. Made from recycled PET plastic bottles, every panel diverts waste from landfill while delivering superior acoustic performance.

Built to last a decade
Dune Tiles is engineered for commercial-grade longevity. With minimal care, the panel maintains its appearance and acoustic performance for 10+ years. Here's how to get the most out of your installation.
Regular cleaning
Vacuum with a soft brush attachment every few months to remove dust and airborne particles. This maintains both appearance and acoustic performance over time.
Spot cleaning
For marks or light stains, blot with a damp microfibre cloth using water only. For stubborn marks, a mild pH-neutral detergent diluted in water is safe. Blot — don't rub — to avoid matting the surface texture.
Lifespan
EchoPanel® has a published 10-year product life expectancy with proper care. The colour-through construction means the panel won't look faded or damaged even if lightly scuffed.
Fire and safety
EchoPanel® is independently tested and certified to AS 1530.3, AS ISO 9705 Group 1, and international fire standards including ASTM E84 and EN 13501-1. Safe for use in commercial and public spaces.
End-of-life recycling
At end of life, these PET tiles are 100% recyclable. Their clip-fix installation means they can be uninstalled cleanly without contamination, then returned to the PET recycling stream.
