Application: Ceilings & Hanging Panels

Acoustic Ceiling Panels & Hanging Baffles

Acoustic panels and hanging baffles for ceilings in offices, hospitality, retail and homes. Direct fix or suspended, in EchoPanel® flat, embossed or 3D formed.

The ceiling is the largest uninterrupted surface in most rooms, which makes it the most efficient place to absorb sound. Where wall space is limited or fully glazed, acoustic ceiling panels and hanging baffles do the work that walls can't. We supply the full EchoPanel® range for direct-fix ceilings, suspended tile installations and custom hanging baffle configurations across Australia.

Why this matters

Why ceiling acoustic treatment is so effective

Sound reflects off every hard surface in a room, but the ceiling is usually the largest single reflector. In a typical office or open-plan space, treating even part of the ceiling reduces reverberation more than treating an equivalent area of wall, because ceiling-mounted panels intercept first-order reflections before they reach occupants. Hanging baffles work especially well in spaces with exposed services or limited fixing surface, sitting in the air below the soffit and absorbing on both faces.

Recommended ranges

Recommended ranges for ceilings and baffles

Flat EchoPanel® 12mm is the most common ceiling specification, fixed direct to the soffit or to a 20mm batten for an air gap. Acoustic tiles in 25mm are used for higher-absorption ceiling installations and for suspended grid systems. The 3D formed range suits feature ceilings where the pattern adds visual rhythm to a flat plane. Custom hanging baffles can be cut from EchoPanel® sheets to spec.

Specification guidance

Specification guidance for ceiling installs

Direct fix to plasterboard or batten gives a flat, architectural finish. A 20mm air gap behind the panel meaningfully improves absorption in the speech band, which is the right approach for offices, classrooms and meeting rooms. For exposed concrete or service-laden soffits, hanging baffles installed perpendicular to the floor absorb on both faces and add visual rhythm. Confirm any pendant lighting, sprinkler and grille positions before setting out the panel grid: EchoPanel® 12mm cuts cleanly with a sharp blade, but mid-panel cutouts are easier to plan than to retrofit.
